I became interested in design after school, especially while living in the UK for just over two years. I had studied Town and Regional planning, but in London my eyes opened to the world of art and design. This meant I just had to travel, and five months later, after travelling through Europe and Africa, my journey brought me back to South Africa, where my design career took off.
I started with design studies at Concept Interactive and was top student of the year and a New Media Construction Award Finalist at the prestigious Design Indaba. I went on to work first in Johannesburg and then Cape Town, starting two successful design companies along the way, but decided to go freelance and concentrate my time, creativity and experience on a smaller portfolio of select clients.
I have run many projects from beginning to end, performing the roles of creative director, developer and client services, and ensuring a happy, satisfied customer. The challenge is to take a client‘s brief – which is sometimes no more than a few words, a preferred colour and perhaps a logo or a pic – and capture and visualise a unique design that makes not only the client sit up and notice, but also the client‘s target audience. It‘s all about understanding the client‘s goals and creating something from nothing to produce spot–on designs that meet those goals.
I now have 8 years‘ experience in digital design and my portfolio covers a wide range of new media designs. I have also done more specialised designs, such as interface design for applications and content management systems, keeping user functionality in mind to ensure great user interaction and easy navigation.
I would love to hear from you if you‘d like to talk to me about how I can help you, or if you want further information about any of the work in my portfolio , send me a message.
